The Insiders: Market Days must-sees, Day 2 edition
We hope you got plenty of rest last night, because it’s Day 2 of Market Days – and just like yesterday, there’s a full slate of activities that are worth checking out. And of course, for maps, schedules and more, pick up this week’s Insider or visit intownconcord.org. And remember, Main Street will be closed to traffic from Loudon Road to Pleasant Street.
∎ Ever wanted to look through a telescope directly into the blazing hot sun? The McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center telescopes will be on the State House lawn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We’re not sure how many stars you’ll find in the sky at that time of day, but if all else fails, point the lens directly at this column. Boom! All the stars you need to see in Concord.
∎ Get your groove on with Shamecca and her swaggerlicious Vybes of Style dance crew when they hit the State House lawn at 1 p.m.
∎ Kick the temperature up another few notches at the hot wing eating contest in Eagle Square. Group 1 gets things started at 2 p.m. Then cool things down with the brain freeze eating contest, where we assume one eats ice cream, not brain freezes. The junior event digs in at 2 p.m., also in Eagle Square.
∎ Cap off the night at 9 by viewing 7th Voyage of Sinbad at the corner of Pleasant and Main streets at the Movie Under the Stars event presented by Red River Theatres.
∎ ∎ ∎
In the non-Market Days category, visit the McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center for a 7 p.m. showing of Forbidden Planet, which was selected by voters as part of the Sci-Fi Friday Night series. The film is rated PG, and children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Call 271-STAR for reservations. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
