The Insiders: Bartender, we’ll have a Manhattan (Film Festival)
You could go to New York City this weekend and spend $10 on one (1) draft beer, or you could stay in Concord, let New York City come to you and spend the same amount on a fantastic film festival. NHTI will host the Manhattan Film Festival for the 10th consecutive year (in Sweeney Hall), beginning with tonight’s showing of 10 acclaimed short films at 7 p.m. NHTI is one of 300 sites throughout the world hosting the festival, which features 10 films – selected from a field of more than 600 – between 6 and 18 minutes long. Our docudrama, The Dark Night: It’s What Comes After Bright Morning, wasn’t selected. Movies from Australia, Finland, England, France, Ireland and the United States were, though. And here’s the best part: it’s interactive. Each member of the worldwide audience gets to vote for best film and best actor. There will be Saturday showings at 2 and 7 p.m., also. Call 230-4000, ext. 4101, for more information.
