GAME 1

Boston 8, St. Louis 1

Three St. Louis errors, an overturned call at second base, a three-run double by Mike Napoli and a two-run homer by David Ortiz provide Jon Lester (7 2∕3 innings of shutout ball) with plenty of support in the opening rout.

GAME 2

St. Louis 4, Boston 2

David Ortiz’s two-run homer gives the Sox the lead in the sixth, but St. Louis goes ahead in the seventh on a fielding error by Jarrod Saltalamacchia and a throwing error by Craig Breslow on the same play.

GAME 3

St. Louis 5, Boston 4

Xander Bogaerts ties it with an RBI single in the eighth, but St. Louis walks off with the win on an obstruction call on Will Middlebrooks.

GAME 4

Boston 4, St. Louis 2

Jonny Gomes hits a three-run home run in the sixth inning and closer Koji Uehara picks off pinch runner Kolten Wong at first to end the game.

GAME 5

Jon Lester allows just one run and four hits in 7 2∕3 innings and David Ross hits a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning.
