The Insiders: Perfect weather for a little dip in the pool
We don’t know about you, but when the temperature is subzero for a bunch of days in a row and it snows a couple times a week, the first thing we think about is taking a refreshing dip in the pool. The YMCA was apparently thinking along similar lines, and there’s even more good news – the pool is indoors!
As part of Splash Week at the YMCA, children’s swimming lessons are being offered free of charge to both Y members and members of the general public (the monthly fee for the latter membership is surprisingly reasonable – you just have to be alive and not currently on the lam). The classes are 30 minutes long and are for children between the ages of 6 and 12. They will run at 4:30 and 5 p.m. today, as well as Thursday, and will focus on swimming and safety skills.
If you’d rather follow the advice of Sara Bareilles and let the words fall out, swing by the Horseshoe Pond Toastmasters Club today at noontime. The group meets at 2 Delta Drive and works to help people improve communication and leadership skills.
