Pawtucket Red Sox name Kevin Boles manager
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Pawtucket Red Sox named the Portland Sea Dogs’ manager as their fifth new manager in six years.
The team announced the promotion of Kevin Boles yesterday. The 38-year-old has spent the last three seasons leading the Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. He has also managed at the rookie or Single-A level with the Red Sox, Marlins, Royals and Twins organizations.
Boles has a 797-786 career record during his 13 years managing in the minors. The Sea Dogs went 68-73 in each of the last two seasons.
Boles is the son of former Florida Marlins manager John Boles.
He replaces Gary DiSarcina, who led the PawSox for the 2013 season. He left to become the third base coach of the Los Angeles Angels.
