As I scroll through the comments we seem to have all of us "usual suspects" in agreement on something for the first time. We will not pay! Too bad, as it has been fun. I wish you all happy futures!

Several years ago I moved out of NH and have enjoyed keeping up with home town news through this website. I read many papers this way every day and I have seen a fair amount switch to a pay to read format. It has worked for some of the powerhouse publications but many of the smaller ones have reverted back due to a lack of readership. Personally, I will opt out of paying but good luck to you just the same. There are just too many places to get free news on the web and my money will better serve my family elsewhere.

My mother retired and was collecting a pension of $1200 a month. All was well until my father made the mistake of dying too young. As a result my mother was forced to return to the work force. at 69 years old there were not many places for her to go so when a part time position became available she applied. She was lucky enough to get the job but it was NOT created for her and is several labor grades lower than her career job. Without this job she could not afford to pay for food and shelter. With this job she has been able to keep her home and take care of herself. I agree that there are many who abuse this system but for some it is needed.

Am I reading this right? If so, two of the jurors mentioned would be biased AGAINST law enforcement and would have voted against any kind of punnishment wouldn't they? And the 3rd, an ex boyfriend was a university cop? How much influence would that have? The verdict and sentence should stand.

Scatter some of these through your writing (...................................) hahaha

Organizations like the Library and Market days are simply denied, but when the areas largest alcohol distributer wants to have some beers at a hockey game (which he sponsors), they will reexamine everything! I think it's a stupid rule in the first place, but they should have used another reason to go public.

It used to be that, when a doctor became aware of a potential seizure condition, they were required to notify the DMV and the patients license was suspended. Until they could go one full year without a seizure, they could not drive. Even if this is no longer the case, it shouldn't take ANY crashes for someone with such a condition to know that they are putting many lives in danger by driving. This is a sad story but it could have been MUCH worse!

So you are saying that the officers had reason to suspect that the ax was loaded?

I'm not a cop so I can't really speak intelligently on the subject but do we arm our officers with rubber bullets or bean-bag rounds for shotguns? And would that have even made a difference?
This had been a stand-off for sometime before it came to the deadly force stage so I would think there was enough time to set this scenario in place if it were viable.

I remember drinking raw milk years ago, nice and cold out of a glass bottle as they are describing.
There is no better way to have milk. I can't wait to try it!

I couldn't agree more Pat. The son of a friend suffered from the same types of mental illness. While on the "Meds" he functioned normally, but he always said that he hated the way they made him feel. He decided on his own to stop taking them. His "demons" soon returned and although he was never a threat to others, he did take his own life.
As you said, not everyone can be cured. The risk to innocent people is just too great.
