then the residents, businesses and the local towns should be funding these projects. If the project is deemed of such value then the citizens should; approve the funds, acquire donations of money, supplies and labor to acquire the project. The interesting question is - why did it take stimulus money to fix the bridge - why had all those Hillsboro shocked history buffs and local leaders not already have repaired it. Appears the bridge was not worth it to the majority of citizens - just a small group. The Federal government (the tax payers across the nation) should not be asked to pay for a local tourist or feel good project. Let the Federal Government deal with Federal issues. |

Why spend all the extra money for booting a car and then the labor costs for processing that action. Add a new “BOLD” line on the parking ticket saying you pay the ABOVE stated fine and late payment penalties or (just like Ports. & Manch.) you cannot register your/any car until ALL tickets and fines are paid attached to that license plate. City does not have to keep sending letters, pay for the “boots”, pay people to install the boots and then retrieve them from the vehicle holding area and then the costs of someone to manage the process of giving the cars back. They could even add another line on the ticket saying the cost of the fine driving an unregistered vehicle. This could quickly be a $100 cost for $0.75 parking cost. |

and it's bringing the whole Republican Party down," said Republican Rep. Lee Quandt of Exeter. "It's not only the leadership style, it's the truthfulness - not being told the whole truth, partial truth or out and out being lied to." Not good when your own party member make a statement like this. These tactics are now turning "Independents" away from the Republican party. Just as when the Dem's. were ramming what they wanted down the Rep's. throats because they had the votes - the Dem's got voted out. Now the Rep's. are doing the same thing and run a real risk of getting voted out. |

From BANKRUPT companies. They went in to these deals not to create jobs, not to even save the companies - they went in to get maximum profits at whatever the cost. Read the link and it tells the stories of Bain employees and how maximum dollars was the only interest. Those costs were jobs, people lives and all the money owed to those companies vendors that got stiff though bankruptcy. Makes one curious how many small business’ he put out of business by stiffing them - Why was the $578Million (this was the reported profit from only the bankrupt ones) not paid to cover every creditor before Bain and Romney got their millions. Just because you make a lot of money does not make you a "good" person. I suppose you would vote for Bernie Madoff - he made lots of money. I'm nowhere near the fan of Obama that you think I am - but Obama didn't stick $200 Million in his pocket from those Green deals, then say what a great business person he is and how he cares about the average American. |

Buy a company, fire the employees, chop up and sell the assets of the company putting the profits in his pocket. There has never been a report showing that he created more jobs than the number he fired. Romney’s past shows he is only interested in personal profit at ANY cost to the public. Link showing how 22 percent of the money Bain raised in five businesses ended up filing for bankruptcy but Bain walked away with $578Million profit – the companies went bankrupt??? http://www.romneygekko.com/mitt/ The Olympics? - The federal government (tax payers) spent $1.5 billion on the Salt Lake games, that is more than twice the amount spent on any previous U.S. Olympics. Even Republican John McCain called it a “fleecing” of the U.S. Treasury. Fraser Bullock, (a Bain Capital colleague) served as Romney’s No. 2 at the Salt Lake Olympics committee. He co-hosted the Romney campaign fundraiser in Salt Lake City and has contributed $100,000 to the Romney Super PAC. I'll bet we hear that name again. Romney says he is against "earmarks" but that is exactly how is "saved" the Olympics. |

In the town of Canterbury, 1/3 of all the parcels of land or about 70% of all acres are in current use. This state wants property tax to generate revenue and then exempts 70% of the property in this town. Two thirds of the residents pay much higher taxes so the 1/3 can pay much lower taxes. What would the “true” tax rate per thousand be if that 70% of the entire town was counted. This land is not in conservation as the owner can sell it any time they want to whomever they want (and rightfully so, it's their land). If they choose to put it in “Conservation”, that is a different issue as they can no longer sell the property. |

Appears Bettencourt either wants a (D) appointed or he wants to get some personal say in the pick – could he be thinking of some pay back favors for his back pocket! |

You are still stuck at the same yield sign. If the incoming/ongoing traffic is that bad then you could not go forward anyway. All roundabouts have 4 yield signs. |

Leave the main road alone allowing traffic to pass unimpeded, install a "yield" signs at the 2 connection points and those cars slow down but continue if no traffic - same as with the $680,000 roundabout. With a roundabout all traffic has to slow down, 4 yield signs - how is that more efficient. |

If spending was cut 40%, why are audit revenues not only down by 40%? Sounds like again the staff level did not feel the pinch, only the people actually doing the audits. I remember at the last big e-coli outbreak the USDA said they didn’t have enough to people to “actually” inspect the plants with an employment of ~~105,000 in 2010. Plenty of people to sit and talk about what is needed, just no one to do it.. Reminds me off the gov’t security guard story that went around. Then the budget gets cut. Who gets laid off – the guard, as all the others are still needed to cover themselves. Less staff and more auditors and inspectors is what is needed. There is plenty of fraud in both of these areas. |

I remember you stating it was all "Obama's" fault the price went up - Will you now be saying "Obama" drove the price down??? |
Anytime a person acts a certain way - they are compared to others. People that act with kindness and understanding toward others are compared to people in the past that have done likewise. People that act cruel to others are compared to others that acted likewise.
That is not an insult to the victims, if anything it is a reminder that if you allow people to act bad and do nothing to stop them - then the bad actions just gets worse. An insult would be to do nothing.
Bottom line is that this and Vaillancourt’s salute was a statement against O’Brien’s dictator leadership style.
