Biography

Katie Barnes has been a staff photographer for the Monitor since September of 2009. She has a degree in fisheries and wildlife from the University of Missouri, and is currently working to complete her master's degree, also from the University of Missouri. Her most exciting previous work experience includes working at the Keystone ski resort in Colorado, as an environmental educator on Staten Island in New York, and as a photographer for the Bellingham Herald in Washington. Her work has been recognized by the College Photographer of the Year Competition and the National Press Photographer's Association's Best of Photojournalism contest. Driven by a passion for the environment and a desire to tell stories with pictures, Katie most enjoys documenting the natural world and all the life it supports.
