Biography

Marty Basch is a writer, lecturer, storyteller and adventurer who has written widely on the outdoors, sports, travel and food. A Boston University graduate, Basch worked as a radio newsman in New York, New Hampshire, Boston and the Middle East (for CBS News), and was employed as a reporter at two New Hampshire newspapers before turning his attention to the outdoors.He has won awards from the Associated Press for his radio reporting and twice won the highly-regarded Harold Hirsch Award from the North American Snowsports Journalists Association for his ski writing. One of his books - 'Winter Trails Vermont and New Hampshire' - was noted as a National Outdoor Book Award honorable mention winner. Basch is a longtime Boston Globe correspondent, syndicated outdoor adventure columnist and contributor to many newspapers, magazines and web sites.
