...any chance of them paying for the Gulf disaster?

...when there are no hard numbers or facts? Are we privatizing just for its own sake? Or are we just looking at the up front savings and ignoring the back end costs so we can temporarilty feel good and hope to one again snooker the taxpayers?

For shame. Nobody should be even proposing this, much less voting on it, base on an initial hypothesis. Put the (real) numbers together. Take the initial savings, subtract the costs of privatization, THEN publish the savings (if any). Simple arithmetic. I think everyone will find the savings will amount to far less than advertised.

what was Bush's excuse for nearly $5/gal gas when he was in office? It sure wasn't because he focused on developing green energy!!!

Fact is, gas prices, as with many other things, are not controlled or controllable by a President on either side of the political fence.

...you've completely forgotten the almost $5/gal we were paying during the Bush II administration.

...I hope you make a bazillion dollars!!!

Clearly this invention is more cost effective for commercial use right now....but then commercial energy usage is more intensive. As the previous poster pointed out, once the Burner Boosters can be mass produced, residential costs should come down.

Anything that helps lessen our environmental impact and lowers our dependency on foreign oil gets my vote.

....closing a prison housing unit doesn't seem like such a good move right now, since other cuts imposed by the House - programs for the mentally ill, welfare, Head Start funding, etc. - will cause more crime and more need for our prisons now and into the future. Isn't this the Republican way? Cut now, pay lots more later.

....Rep. Mica would like the FAA to glue the controllers' eyes open. Just 'cause lots of professions work long hours under stressful conditions, doesn't mean they wouldn't do better with a nap now and then. Do we want to be safe or do we want do keep doing what we're doing because we've always done it that way?

But, as we all know, Republican lawmakers always know better than scientists at NASA, and flight safety experts, and the pilots & controllers who actually do the jobs, and .....

..types of tobacco exempted in the original settlement? Pipe smokers also get oral cancer as well as other diseases associated with pipe smoking. Clearly a case of unintended consequences by trying to make a thing into separate things. Tobacco is tobacco - tax it all.

...a yahoo map search - the proposed site is less than 2 miles from Penacook Village. No, those who cannot drive will have a problem getting there...just like in many other towns. And they aren't able to walk for their groceries now.

Another search from downtown Franklin to the Hannaford on the Franklin/Tilton line indicates about 1 1/2 miles, and from Franklin to the Market Basket in Tilton (since one poster mentioned their preference in stores) is nearly 5 miles.

I think this is the best site for a grocery for northern Concord/Penacook, southern Boscawen/Canterbury residents. High traffic volume, easy access (assuming a light will be installed at the corner) and no other grocery stores within 10 miles in any direction.

Would I prefer to see a grocery right in Penacook? Of course, that would be ideal. But clearly the business end of things don't work or there would be one there already. For good or ill, we all are used to driving to do our grocery shopping, and this plan seems to be viable for both the business owners and the residents.

...the Northern Pass project doesn't look so bad now.
