Obama said emphatically "No boots on the ground in Libya". Of course Neo-cons will have all kinds of problems with that ie we have LOADS OF MONEY for war (as usual) & we gotta keep stirring the pot for a literal "armagheddon". State legislature? I agree shred everything they have done & send them home for a 21 month vacation. |

...against Geo W Bush; politically...remember...the 2 unfunded wars, humungous tax cut etc... I love Laura & voted for Geo H Bush, still love "the ole man". In 'my next life' I would adore Ronald Reagan as my grandfather (much prefer Jimmy Carter as president) & my all time favorite First Lady is Nancy Reagan - I looove that woman and always will. My best friend is "old fashioned" republican, maybe even a little neo-connish, I still love "her". You? |

...my husband & I were discussing oil speculation. What Mr MacClellan speaks of is highway robbery IMHO. I read a little about commodities markets in 90s (too "risky" for me). I do appreciate speculation at least in food commodities. Nothing short of 'heroic' that markets are in place which bear the financial risk all the way from planting a seed of corn in Kansas then keeping its market "afloat" till the "fruit" reaches my table in form of a can of corn. I am not being critical of commodities markets. Re Mr MacClellan's letter 1. Are there speculators who literally buy a storage containers full of oil during a mideastern crisis hoping (maybe even manipulating) news in mideast (FOX); in fact betting that the FEAR of higher oil prices will in fact drive up price resulting in huge profits? 2. Is there a "bet" market whereby speculators can bet (& hope) for a disruption in the "pipeline" of oil from Libya to Europe...opportunistic moment...just a bet, but certainly would spin in the news? Could you give me a paragraph or 2 on macroeconomics - commodities markets - speculation? Thank you for the informative letter Mr MacClellan. P.S. Ken St Cyr, gotta change the subject, eh? Abe, I like it "HOS" syndrome ; |
