D-II Boys’ SoccerQuarterfinals

No. 3 Coe-Brown 1, No. 6 John Stark 0

Key players: Coe-Brown Northwood Academy – Ryan Whitcher (G), Lucciano Minasalli (midfield), Connor Fallon (defense), Mason Winiarski (defense), Hogan Cain (keeper)

Highlights: Cain preserved the win in the waning moments when he came up with a save after the Generals got behind the Coe-Brown defense. The Bears will face No. 7 Bow in the 4 p.m. semifinal Wednesday at Stellos Stadium in Nashua.

Coach's quote: “John Stark is a very good team. They play very directly, so we talked at lengths in the last few days about how to manage that. I think the result is fair. We had more chances but their keeper (Jaimason Lacasse) came up huge in moments. Ultimately, we kept generating opportunities on offense and limiting their chances with our defense. That gave us enough to get the win and move onto the semifinals. Congrats to John Stark on their successful season. They were great competitors today.” – Coe-Brown’s Christian Gompert

“Ultimately this match came down to the fact that Coe-Brown executed their strategy more effectively than we did. We didn’t demonstrate the urgency needed to see us through to the semifinals. It is a tough end to a great season, one where we surpassed many people’s expectations. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of young men to work with and congratulate the seniors on wonderful high school soccer careers. ” – John Stark’s Eddie Marceau

Records: Coe-Brown 14-3-1; John Stark 12-5-1
