Letter: On Liberty

I was reading On Liberty by John Stuart Mill this weekend and noted this passage, “That Principle is, that the sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their members, is self-protection. That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.”

We are certainly in that situation now with mask mandates and vaccine mandates. Those who claim “freedom” to do as they please are being selfish. Society has the right to compel them to do what is good for mankind as a whole. Personally, I will avoid going to any doctor or hospital where there are unvaccinated individuals who are not tested regularly. It is time to stop this madness.
