I’ve long considered political litmus tests to be short-sighted and constricting. But the times have changed me, and I now see them as focusing my attention: all candidates who show signs of wishing to interfere in the privacy of a woman’s body, or who wish to provide an iota of aid to mad men seeking firearms will automatically cause me to select their opponents on the ballot.
And if those candidates are also tainted, to resort to write-ins. I’m embarrassed that our country has become a pariah in the community of advanced nations.
