High school boys’ soccer tourneys: No. 1 Concord Christian advances to D-IV semis and other quarterfinal results

D-IV Boys’ Soccer

No. 1 Concord Christian 2, No. 8 Sunapee 1

Key players: Concord Christian – Levi Campbell (goal), Brayden Burbach (goal), Jayden Young (3 saves)

Highlights: The Lakers took a 1-0 lead, but the Kingsmen responded quickly, with Campbell’s goal tying things up in the first half and Burbach’s goal securing the win in the second. Concord Christian will play No. 4 Epping in Thursday’s semifinal at Manchester Memorial High School at 6:15 p.m.

Records: Concord Christian 16-0-1; Sunapee 11-4-3

D-II Boys’ Soccer

No. 2 Oyster River 1, No. 7 Bow 0, 2OT

Highlights: The Falcons forced the Bobcats to overtime, but Oyster River scored in the second OT period to end Bow’s season in the D-II quarterfinals.

Records: Oyster River 13-2-2; Bow 12-6-0

No. 3 ConVal 2, No. 6 Coe-Brown 1, 2OT

Key players: Coe-Brown – Sam Drake (goal)

Highlights: Drake scored on a penalty kick late in the first half to tie the game, but the ConVal keeper saved another PK in the first overtime period and the Cougars scored in the second OT to eliminate the Bears in the D-II quarterfinals.

Records: ConVal 14-3-0; Coe-Brown 11-5-0

No. 1 Kingswood 3, No. 8 Merrimack Valley 1

Highlights: The top-seeded Knights led 2-0 at halftime and hung on to win Sunday’s D-II quarterfinal, despite a stronger second half from the Pride.

Records: Kingswood 14-2-1; MV 10-7-1

D-III Boys’ Soccer

No. 4 Belmont 2, No. 5 Conant 0

Highlights: The Raiders topped the Orioles to advance to the D-III semifinals. Belmont will play undefeated Gilford at Manchester Memorial High School on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.

Records: Belmont 14-2-2; Conant 13-4-1

No. 3 Mascoma 2, No. 6 Bishop Brady 0

Highlights: The Royals scored in the 19th minute off a free kick and doubled their lead five minutes into the second half to end the Giants’ season in the D-III quarterfinals.

Records: Mascoma 15-2-1; Bishop Brady 12-4-2

No. 2 Campbell 2, No. 10 Hillsboro-Deering 1

Key players: H-D – Mason Ferwerda (goal), Mason Savoy (8 saves), Logan Miller (defense), Bradley O’Brien (defense), Dan Franklin (defense)

Highlights: The Cougars ended their season in the D-III quarterfinals with a loss to the top-seeded Eagles.

Football

Bishop Brady 40, Franklin 7

Key players: Franklin – Ashton Turner (rush TD), Dustin Johnston (4 catches), Harrison Kaplan (4 catches, 55 receiving yards), Yagiz Sarmisak (kicked extra point, averaged over 40 yards per punt)

Highlights: The Giants ended the regular season with a victory over the Tornadoes in the second annual Kaplan Kup – a game in memoriam of former Bishop Brady and Franklin teacher and coach Jeff Kaplan. The Giants will likely be the No. 3 seed for the Division IV playoffs, while Franklin’s season comes to an end. Turner scored in his first game as a running back, taking over for four injured teammates at that position.
