Letter: Immunizations

Published: 01-04-2023 7:01 AM

To James Trice’s My Turn about Dr. Edward Jenner’s discovery of immunizations, I would like to add the work Louis Pasteur. It was Louis who discovered the miniature world of living organism’s, bacteria, virus and fungi and as the cause of disease. He went on to create immunization for Rabies, smallpox, anthrax, and cholera.

As today, vaccine opponents complained that his vaccine was an untested method and might itself cause death. He said “The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.” Get vaccinated. It is the loving thing to do.
