Letter: 2023 course selections

I find the recent focus of the House Education Committee interesting. Pushing for the study of communism and cursive writing while ignoring the study of race and gun violence in our schools. Where are the courses teaching the history of the genocide of Native peoples?

Where are the courses teaching the enslavement of non-white populations? Where are the courses teaching children how to survive a shooting spree at school, at the movie theater, at the grocery store, at church? Where are the courses teaching what it means to be a community of caring responsible citizens who use language to present ideas rather than guns? Just saying.
