Highlights: Christie, Concord’s lone jumper, was the top area finisher in a meet at Plymouth on Friday.

Highlights: The Hawks trailed 23-19 after the first quarter but won every quarter the rest of the way and held the visiting Hilltoppers to just 34 points over the final three quarters.

Key players: Nashua South – Josh Caruso (17 points), Zac Castonguay (14 points); Concord – Japhet Nduwayo (29 points), Elia Bahuma (8 points)
Highlights: Concord jumped out to an early 18-8 lead after the first quarter by getting out in transition and converting on easy scoring opportunities. South followed up with a run of its own in the second quarter, but Concord led 24-23 at the half. A three-minute lapse from the Tide in the third quarter allowed South to take a 47-40. Nashua extended the lead to 11 points in the fourth with 2:30 to go. Concord was able to storm back and cut its deficit to three with 45 seconds left but could not complete the comeback.
Coach’s quote: “That was a 7-1 team, and we just went toe-to-toe with them. We learned a lot tonight. There are some tangible things that we need to fix to on offense, but our effort and energy were there all night long. We never quit. We continued to battle. Highlights: Franklin outscored Concord Christian, 20-10, in the second quarter to take a 26-25 halftime lead, but a big third quarter lifted the Kingsmen to the victory.

Highlights: The Giants got out to a fast start and led from beginning to end to earn their fourth straight victory.

Highlights: The Bears led by six points at halftime, breaking pressure and hitting shots, but Laconia put on serious pressure in the second half and hit some timely 3-pointers to come back for the win.

Pembroke 53, Merrimack Valley 48
Key players: Pembroke – Annelise Dexter (25 points, 8 rebounds), Kaitlin Arenella (12 points, 9 rebounds)
Highlights: Pembroke led 10-9 in a close first quarter, but MV took over in the second. The Pride led by as much as 16 points (30-14) before a late 3-pointer by Brooke Arenella cut it to 30-17 at halftime. The Spartans regrouped after halftime and outscored MV 18-4 in the third period to regain the lead, 35-34, heading into the final frame. Pembroke never trailed again, despite the score staying tight. The Spartans went 8-for-11 from the line over the final eight minutes and had some nice passing plays to get some key layups.
Coach’s quote: “MV really lit us up in the second quarter, but we showed a lot of character to rally back in the second half, despite injuries and foul problems. To do that on the road with a young group was a great accomplishment. We broke their press down the stretch and got clutch free throws in the final minutes from Anna (Dexter) and Hailey (Steinmetz).
