Letter: Listen to the people

It’s disheartening to see some lawmakers express frustration with constituents simply for speaking up. Representative Weyler recently said he’s “tired” of hearing from the public. But isn’t that the job? Our elected officials are public servants – accountable to the people they represent.

Thousands of Granite Staters are raising their voices to defend public education, call out the misuse of taxpayer dollars on private voucher programs, and insist that diversity and inclusion are strengths to be embraced, not threats to be stamped out.

If our representatives truly reflect on their responsibilities, they’ll remember that this is a temporary role meant to serve the public interest – not private agendas. That means listening, responding, and acting on the will of the people.

Fully funding public education is not a radical ask. It’s a moral obligation. It’s time to stop undermining our schools and start investing in our shared future.
