The Belmont boys’ JV soccer team defeated Bishop Brady 3-0 top improve to 6-0 on the season. Scoring for Belmont were Lars Major (goal) (assist), Dylan Laflower (goal), Brendan Kelley (goal) and Jake Giguere (assist). Jake Deware had four saves in goal to preserve the shutout.
The Rundlett Middle School boys “A” soccer team played the Bow league to a 3-3 draw. Rundlett came from behind to tie the game at two on goals by Joe Ala and Cameron Detwiller. Nic Galatis put Rundlett ahead on a hard charging goal, but Bow tied it up in the final minutes of the game. Salvatore Aubin and Augustine Twite played tough defense. Jonah Wachter made some important stops in net.
The Rundlett “A” volleyball team fell to Windham in two hard fought matches, 26-28, 19-25. The Dukes offense was led by Emma Ferguson (10 aces) and Alexis Flynn (100 percent from the service line). Mikaela Harasko led the Dukes defense along with Catie Gaudette with great passing and digs. Emma Nakuci, Elizabeth Blinn, and Lilly Equonis each contributed several hits.
Merrimack Valley Middle School Girls Soccer defeated Hopkinton 4-2. Kaylee Magoon, Alyssa Woodman, Macy Gordon, and Rylee Boucher (2 assists) scored the goals for MV. Emily Koufos and Hayley Kenney combined for the shutout in goal. Deanna Bourque and Rebecca Latham led the defense, while Kerragan McNeil had an assist and controlled the midfield. MV is now 3-1 on the season.
The Hopkinton boys’ soccer team tied MV, 4-4. After being down 4-1 with 17 minutes left in the second half, the Hawks rallied back and used good ball movement. Ian Heck had two goals, Ryan Graham had a goal, Logan Rockwood had a goal and an assist, Sam Brown had an assist and Steven Newton-Delgado Delgado had an assist. The Hawks play Epping on Thursday.
The Henniker Community School cross-country team participated in a meet at Monadnock with five other teams. CJ Brennan place sixth overall with Elijah Day and Alex Keirstead finishing in the top 15. The girls were led by Brianna Langdon with Katie Palmateer, Alexis Young and Sophia McGinty placing in the top 15.
Andy Jalbert and Carolyn Richmond tied for first place with Sue Perry and Helen Steenbeke in the Two Ball Best Ball event at Concord Country Club. Both teams led the field with 8 under par rounds of 64. Four teams tied for second place with rounds of 66. They were Lois Davis and Mary Jane Bergman, Terri Ponn and Brenda Thomas, Cynthia Ross and Becky Gauthier, and Jean VerPlanck and Nancy Rheinhardt.
Craig Smith, Matt Smith, Al Robertson and Sean Kelly finished in first place with 63 strokes apiece in the Andover Lions Golf Tournament at the Country Club of New Hampshire in Sutton on Monday. Ralph Cutting, Norm LeBoncle, John Lightfoot and Gary Karp shot 68 each for the top of the over-65 division. Howard George, Tom Voss, Jon Clement and Jack Martin won the over-75 division with 68 strokes.
The St. Paul’s School girls’ soccer team visited New Hampton School and opened up its season with a 1-0 victory over the Huskies. The Big Red scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute of the first half off a 20-yard direct free kick from Izzy Geneve. The The Big Red defensive backline of Caitlin Wilkin, Jess Jang, Isabelle Coleman and Tiffany Hill kept the New Hampton offense at bay. St. Paul’s will travel to the Rivers School on Saturday to take on last years’ NEPSAC Class “B” champions.
The Saint Paul’s School boys’ soccer team lost, 4-1, to Exeter at home Wednesday. Exeter took a 3-0 lead at half. Saint Paul’s closed the gap to 3-1 in the second with a goal from Sal Alireza, but Exeter scored next to seal the victory.
The Proctor Academy field hockey team beat Kimball Union Academy, 3-1, at home in Andover. Goals for Proctor were scored by Haley parker, Sophie Weintraub and Emma Brophy. Parker and Hannah Brochu each had assists.
The NHIAA and WMUR are teaming up with the New Hampshire Food Bank for the fourth annual New Hampshire Tackles Hunger Weekend.
This weekend, food drives will be hosted at high school football games across the state. All food donated will go to local food pantries. Please bring a non-perishable food item when you head out to a high school football game this weekend. Cash donations will also be accepted.
