The Cedar Mill Group Capital Area Cyclones (above) won the Memorial Day Softball Tournament in Londonderry and earned a spot in the Babe Ruth World Series in Florida. The Cyclones went 6-0 in the tournament, outscoring opponents 81-8.
The U14 New Hampshire Lightning White team won the U16 Cannons Classic, a USA Class A fast pitch softball tournament. Alice Rosenberg and Sadie Barton each pitched complete games to defeat the Seacoast Bandits in the semifinals and the Cannons in the final. The champion Lightning roster includes Rosenberg, Barton, Lillian Rienstra, Autumn Nudd, Josie Maggiore, Libby Segal, Brooke Nolan, Katie Bent, Allison Andrews and Meghan McGonagle.
The Hooksett Alliance 2001 boysโ soccer team won the Elite Division Championship in the GPS Memorial Day Soccer Tournament. Hooksett won its first two games, 6-2 and 3-0. The team went on to win its semifinal game, 6-1, and the final, 7-0.
The Hooksett Alliance 2000 boysโ soccer team won the title at the GPS Memorial Day Soccer Tournament in Massachusetts over the weekend. The team outscored its opponents, 23-2, over five games to capture the title.
Peter Annon and Quinn Hogan won the two-ball best ball with a score of 62 for eight under on Monday at Concord Country Club. Steve Edwards, Ken Smith, Kevin Hobbs and Ray Goulet tied for second with scores of 63. Scott Towle and Ken Smith shot a six-under 64 for third.
Lance Pelley and Dan Arvanitis won the Chet Wheeler Red White and Blue championship with a three-round total of 207 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course over the holiday weekend. Dick Champagne and Travis Banga tied Chris Jacques and Tom Lloyd for second with scores of 214. Rounding out the top four was Corey Giroux and Eric Saucier at 220. Lynn Woodward and Jeremy French won the net championship with a score of 182. The father-son team of Tom and Tim Levins shot 185 for second, and Bill Peterie and Jim Bergeron shot 56 in the final round to finish third with 189. Past champions Mark Nadeau and Gary Wall rounded out the top four with a 190.

Concord Cannons Elite Baseball League Travel Programwill be conducting tryouts for the 2017-2018 season on Aug. 12 for ages 10U-12U at NHTI in Concord from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tryout cost is $30. Included in the 10U-12U tryout fee is two pre-tryout workouts with Program Director Bryan Caruso on Aug. 8 and Aug. 10 at Concord Sports Center. Pembroke Summer Recreation Program registration will be held on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Pembroke Town Hall.
