The Center for Health Promotion is offering a Straight Up Strength class. This class is devoted to toning all major muscle groups while improving muscle strength and definition. They will use a variety of equipment to keep the workout fresh and fun but cardio work is not a part of this class. The session will start on Thursday and go each Thursday for seven weeks from noon to 12:45 p.m. The cost for the all seven classes is $55. SOUTH END Vietnam plaque unveiled at Concord High School

A plaque dedicated to all former Concord High School students who served in the Vietnam War will be presented to the school Tuesday at 10 a.m. It reads “We remember all our friends and classmates; those who gave their lives, those who died later as a result of their service and those who lived and suffered the wounds of war.” Twelve young men lost their lives and their names are individually listed. The Suncook Valley Chorale is an non-auditioned group of singers of all ages, who gather together to “Sing For Joy.” The group numbers somewhere between 60 and 80 members. Scott Lounsberry is their conductor, and Calvin Hearst accompanies them. They practice at Concord High School weekly and there are two concerts a year. This year’s winter concert is titled “Making a Difference: Songs of Hope and Courage.” Both performances will be held at Wesley Methodist Church on Friday at 7 p.m. and Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for seniors and students and $18 for everyone else.

Members of the Quilting Guild will present and talk about some of the different options to finish your quilt. Examples of each process will be on display on Friday at the United Baptist Church, 39 Fayette St. It’s free for members; $5 for nonmembers.
