OUR ENVIRONMENT NEEDS MORE LOCAL REPORTING

The Concord Monitor is launching its Environmental Reporting Lab, a long-term effort to better inform the community about the New Hampshire environment. To launch phase 1 of this effort, we need your help. The money raised will go toward hiring a full-time environmental reporter.

Please consider donating to this effort.

City crews blocked off a portion of Main Street Thursday to make way for a flatbed truck and crane to place an enormous evergreen tree in front of the State House.

The Norway spruce was donated by Chris Girard of Bow, while the tree operation was coordinated by the city of Concord’s General Services department.

The annual Christmas tree lighting celebration is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving. Music, entertainment, warm drinks and children’s events are scheduled.
