A well-timed gesture

I would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the person or people who paid for my lunch at the 99. Since I was not able to say it to you personally, I am turning to the newspaper.

I can’t begin to tell you how much it was appreciated. I had just come from visiting my husband of 41 years in a nursing home. He suffers from severe depression. I debated with myself as to whether or not to go to lunch by myself or just go back home.

I went into the 99 in Concord. The waitress told me of your kindness but said you asked to remain anonymous. So, in the event that you see this letter, I am so grateful and touched by your thoughtfulness. It couldn’t have happened at a better time.
