Youth baseball

The Concord Little League 9/10 All-Stars beat Suncook, 10-2, to advance to the District 2 semifinals. Landon Tadakowsky and Jacob Plodzik had a great day on the mound, both pitching three innings. Anthony LaTorra hit a short hopper to the fence for an error-free in-the-park home run. Plodzik and AJay Landry also had great days at the plate with some monster hits.

HDHS fall tryouts

Hillsboro-Deering High School will hold tryouts/practices for fall sports at the following dates and times: bass fishing (Aug. 9, time and location TBD), football (Aug. 13, 7:30 a.m., HDHS football practice field), cross country (Aug. 16, 8 a.m., Grimes Field), girls’ soccer (Aug. 16, 8 a.m., girls’ soccer field), boys’ soccer (Aug. 16, 9 a.m., boys’ soccer field), girls’ volleyball (Aug. 16, 2 p.m., HDHS gym), golf (Aug. 16, 3:30 p.m., Angus Lea Golf Course). All athletes trying out must have a current physical on file with the school nurse or one ready to turn in to their coach, as well as current Impact Test results. Free physicals will be offered at HDHS the week of Aug. 9 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Impact Tests are also available that week. Athletes must bring their own water and show up dressed to practice.

AAU softball tryouts

The N.H. Comets softball program is holding tryouts for its 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams on Aug. 2-5 and Aug. 8. Each team has three tryout dates and all tryouts are held at Sanel Park in Concord. Pre-registration is required to tryout. For more information, visit


N.H. Lightning travel softball league for ages 10U through 18-plus will be holding tryouts for the 2021-22 season the weeks of July 26 and Aug. 2 at Martin Park in Concord. Specific dates and times are available at or by emailing

Nor’Easter Softball Club tryouts for the 2022 season for 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams will be held at Bryant Field (behind Belmont Middle School) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Check out

U.S. Tennis Association tennis lessons are being offered in Concord and Bow. Concord lessons at Merrill Park, 27 Eastman St., will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting this upcoming Tuesday and running through Aug. 12. Grades 3-5 will play from 5-6 p.m. and grades 6-8 will play from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Register through Concord Parks & Recreation at Cost is $75 for residents, $85 for non-residents. A minimum of seven participants is needed and there is a maximum of 12. Lessons in Bow are offered at the Bow High School courts on Wednesdays through Aug. 11. Grades 1-2 play from 4 to 5 p.m., grades 3-5 are 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and grades 6-8 are 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Register at Bow Recreation, 1 Knox Road. Cost is $80 for residents, $85 for non-residents. Officials needed

N.H. Soccer Association is welcoming anyone age 13 and older who would like to become a soccer referee to attend a U.S. Soccer First Time Grassroots Referee Training session this summer. The training is a combination of online modules, classroom (in-person or virtual) and field training sessions. After completion of all modules the individual will be licensed to officiate U.S. Soccer affiliated youth soccer games. Classes close for registration one week prior to the class start date. Visit

Apprentices are needed for the New Hampshire Wrestling Officials Association for the 2021-22 season. A minimum of two years participating in the sport of wrestling as an official, coach or wrestler is required. Training will be in September.
