Apply for funding

Granite United Way has launched a statewide request for qualification or short-form application for nonprofits to apply for qualification status, funding and support. Qualification is required for all organization seeking funding from the United Way. The deadline to apply is Dec. 14. For more information, graniteuw.org.

Hopkinton Birthday bash

A party to celebrate Derek Owen’s 86th anniversary of birth will be held Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Saint Andrew’s Parish House in Hopkinton. Please come join friends and neighbors for a simple finger food potluck. No gifts are necessary, but if you feel so inclined a modest donation to the farm is always appreciated. All donations go to upkeep, animal feed, and other random projects.

Bristol Decorate the town

The Bristol Events Committee is sponsoring a Holiday Decorating Contest for businesses and residents of Bristol. Decorations must be on the outside of the building and easily seen by the judges. Entry forms may be picked up at and returned to the TTCC, Bristol Town Office or the Minot Sleeper Library. The deadline for entry is Dec. 15 and the judging will take place during the week of Dec. 18. Prizes of gift cards will be awarded for the residential winners and a trophy will be given to the business winner that can be held for a year of bragging rights until 2018’s contest winner is announced.

Hillsboro McDonald’s to give to school playground

McDonald’s in Hillsboro has announced a fundraiser to benefit the Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School in conjunction with the restaurant’s post-renovation re-opening. From Friday to Sunday, 10 percent of all proceeds from the restaurant will be donated to the school’s new playground project. Both the school and the Napoli Group, owners of the Hillsboro McDonald’s, invite the community to participate in the fundraiser. The Hillsboro McDonald’s located at 317 W. Main St. will begin re-opening celebrations on Thursday. The restaurant will now offer self-order kiosks (in addition to counter ordering), table service and a double-lane drive-through.
