Gilford Got Lunch is sponsoring an Election Day Food Drive on March 14 at the Gilford Youth Center, 19 Potter Hill Road in Gilford. The Food Drive will provide meals for children in the Gilford School District who benefit from the Gilford Got Lunch program. We ask that everyone bring non- perishable items to the polls when you come to vote. Suggested items include: peanut butter, instant oatmeal packets, canned soups, canned pasta (ravioli and mac ‘n’ cheese), peanut butter cracker packages, granola bars, Ritz or saltine crackers, canned fruit. Please do not bring glass containers or expired items. The Gilford Got Lunch program provided meals for 56 children this past summer. During the school year, bags are packed weekly for children to provide meals for the weekend. For more information about the program, visit gilfordgotlunch.com.

Newport ‘Dear Friends’ at Opera house

The Newport Opera House Association and Off Broad Street Players will present Dear Friends, a gripping drama by Reginald Rose, on March 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and a 2 p.m. matinee on March 18. Tickets are general admission; $12, seniors $10. They will be available at the door (20 Main St., Newport) or may be purchased in advance at newportoperahouse.com or by calling the box office at 863-2412. Doors open one half-hour before show time.
