ConcordCrisis center receives grant to boost women

The Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire, a nonprofit committed to empowering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking today announced it has received a $10,000 Targeted Grant from Eastern Bank, America’s oldest and largest mutual bank. The grant will support operational needs (beds and bedding, towels, hygiene products, cleaning products, kitchen supplies etc. in the Crisis Center located in Merrimack County.

SAU 24 schools back in session

The first day of school for all students in the Henniker, Weare, John Stark, and Stoddard school districts is Aug. 29. Freshman students at John Stark begin Aug. 28. Bus routes for all schools are available on school websites. Center Woods Upper Elementary School students, please follow the Weare Middle School bus route schedule. Drivers, please be careful and on the lookout for children walking to and from school on using sidewalks and in crosswalks, waiting at bus stops, and exiting buses.

PenacookFree concert at United Church

United Church of Penacook is hosting a concert featuring the piano/guitar duo of Shira Legmann and Michael Pisaro on Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. Shira is a concert pianist with a wide repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music. Michael is a guitarist and composer who has composed more than 80 works. The concert is free and open to the public. Nonprofits sought for Day of Caring

Granite United Way will be hosting its annual Day of Caring events this September and is currently seeking projects from local nonprofits in each of its regions. This year marks the 26th year of Day of Caring events. Nonprofits can participate by submitting a project for the more than 2,000 volunteers that take part in Day of Caring, Granite United Way’s signature volunteer movement. Projects can include painting, clean-up, landscaping, and office assistance just to name a few. Agencies must be a 501(c)(3) to participate. BowTown requests bids for insulation in municipal building

The town of Bow is requesting bids for the installation of insulation in the attic area of the Bow Municipal Building on 10 Grandview Road. Copies of the Bid Package and Project Specifications may be obtained in person at the Bow Municipal Building at the Town Manager’s Office during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., or on bownh.gov. Sealed proposals clearly labeled “INSULATION INSTALL” must be submitted to David Stack, Town Manager, Bow Municipal Building, 10 Grandview Road, Bow, N.H., 03304, no later than 2 p.m. on Aug. 30, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. No faxed or unsealed bids will be considered.
