The STARS Program (Scholarship Trust for Addiction Recovery Services) is hosting a fundraiser to kick off September with a N.H.-based documentary titled 20/20 Breaking Point: Heroin in America starring David Muir. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Red River Theatres in downtown Concord. The documentary, originally aired on ABC News 20/20 in June 2016, brings to light the true nature of substance use disorders, particularly heroin, in cities across America while focusing on N.H. based issues and many champions fighting to make a difference. Tickets for the event will be on sale for $35 per person, $40 at the door, which includes hors d’oeuvres catered by O Steak and Seafood Restaurant, a silent auction, soft drinks, and networking at 5:30 p.m. in the Simchik Theatre. At 6:30 p.m., the documentary will be presented in the Stonyfield Theatre and a panel discussion will follow. Registration is open for the 2018 7th Annual Center for The Arts Juried Show. Open to all 2-D art media, the deadline to apply is Sept. 18. The show will be juried by artists Loren Howard, Elizabeth D’Amico and Ron Brown. All three judges have long histories as working professional artists with studios in the New London area.
