The Chapel By the Lake in Munsinville is looking for local crafters to exhibit at its annual Apple Fest and Craft Fair on Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tables are available for $15. If you provide your own table, rental would be $10 for an 8-foot space. Inside and outside spaces are available. The chapel is located at 529 Granite Lake Road, Munsonville. Concord70th high school reunion to be held

Concord High School Class of 1948 will gather for their 70th reunion Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the Great Room at Havenwood in Concord. The event will include a free lunch. Please call Peachy at 224-1945 to register if you have not yet and leave a phone number.

BelmontChicken barbecue dinner at church

Robert Leroux Council 10934, Knights of Columbus is holding its fall Chicken Barbecue Dinner at St. Joseph Church on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will feature barbecue chicken, baked beans, potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, rolls, desserts and assorted beverages. The cost is $10 per person ($6 for children 6 and under) and families of four or more for $35.

ConcordProgram needs new backpacks

The Backpack Program is expanding this school year to include both Penacock Elementary School and Boscawen Elementary School students. The program, providing food for the weekend to identified children, is beginning its second full year. Due to the generous support of local individuals and organizations, and the use of the N.H. Food Bank, they are able to provide the food from week to week. However, they are in need 40 empty, new backpacks to begin the program in September. The bags can be left either at Friends of Forgotten Children, 224 Bog Road, Penacook, on Thursdays any time between 9am and 8pm, or, at The Friends Program, 202 N. State St., Concord (next to Cobb Hill Construction) Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5pm. Please identify that they are for the Backpack Program. Monetary donations for the purchase of backpacks, and/or to support The Backpack Program, can be made to FOFC with backpack on the memo line and sent to the Bog Road address with zip code 03303. Or, donations can be made online at fofc-nh.org, scrolling to the bottom to The Backpack Program page. All support is appreciated.

TiltonPatriot Day event at veterans home

Residents of the New Hampshire Veterans Home will mark the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America at a public Patriot Day ceremony on Tuesday at the home. The event, set for 11 a.m. in the Home’s Town Hall, will include video tributes, readings and the playing of Taps for the 2,977 people killed in the attacks that targeted the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The speaker will be David Meaney Sr. of Atkinson, past state commander of the American Legion Department of New Hampshire. The event is free and the public is welcome.
