The Woman’s Club of Concord invites applications for its annual $1,000 scholarship. Graduating senior women at Concord High School, Merrimack Valley High School, and Bishop Brady High School planning to attend a two-year or four-year college in the fall of 2019 are invited to apply. Of particular interest are applicants with a record of community service/involvement, financial need, interest in women’s issues, and academic achievement. The deadline for applications is April 1, and the scholarships will be awarded in early May. ConcordIron Chef 2019

Join us April 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a scrumptious night. Attendees will sample creations from three local chefs while sipping on a glass of wine. Then watch the competition heat up as each chef has 30 minutes to create a “Primavera” themed dish using three required ingredients. A panel of local celebrity judges will have the tough job of selecting the Iron Chef winner. Chefs will be: John Tuttle, from Havenwood Heritage Heights, Executive Chef Dan St. Jean, Common Man Brand Restaurants, and Mitchell Testa, culinary student at Lakes Region Community College. Judges wil be: Chef Jay Smith, Executive Chef of Copper Door, Chef Chris Normandeau of Granite Ledges and winner of people’s choice award 2018, Mayor Jim Bouley of Concord. The event will be held at Tad’s Place at Heritage Heights, 149 East Side Drive. Tickets cost $35 and include appetizers and two glasses of wine. For more information, visit

PenacookSlam dunk with Harlem Wizards

Get ready, a high-flying, slam dunking, rim-rattling basketball show is coming to town! The world famous Harlem Wizards will visit Merrimack Valley High School on April 12 for an evening of great fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a game against a team of Merrimack Valley School District administrators, teachers, community leaders and community members. Proceeds will benefit MV Girls Lacrosse and the School districts parent teacher groups. The event will features variety of fun interactive extras to complement the wizards’ dazzling demonstration of hoops artistry: Pregame “Wiz Kids” warm-up, contests, comedy, awesome slam dunks, audience participation, merchandise giveaways, and more. The game will conclude with the Wizards signature dance extravaganza that will have the crowd on their feet! When you’re in the stands you’re not just a spectator; you’re part of the show! Come and experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing, and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high energy comedy and audience interaction.
