Concord’s Midnight Merriment to be held Friday

On Friday at 7 p.m., filmmaker Peter Jackson’s remarkable documentary of the First World War, They Shall Not Grow Old will be shown at NHTI. Using ground breaking computer restoration technology, Jackson’s team creates a moving real-to-life depiction of World War I with never-before-seen footage – to commemorate the centennial of the end of the war. The event is in the Sweeney Auditorium and is open to the public; admission by donation ($5 suggested).

Concord Holiday hoopla

Midnight Merriment will be Friday with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. This festive and family-oriented event kicks off the season and offers holiday fun and activities for the whole family. Santa is making an appearance at N.H. Federal Credit Union’s 47 N. Main St. location from 5 to 8 p.m. He’ll be listening to wishes and posing for photos. NHFCU is also the drop off location for letters to Santa. This year, NHFCU is collecting items for “Santa for seniors,” for distribution to residents of local nursing homes and retirement communities who could use warm wishes during the holiday season. When you bring a new, unwrapped items for a senior, or donate to “Santa for seniors,” you may take a chance at Money Matching Madness. If you scratch and match six symbols with NHFCU’s Money Matching Madness scratch card game, you could win $15,000, just in time for the holidays.Bring your dance moves to City Plaza and join Nazzy from 105.5 JYY for fun holiday greetings, and festive dance music. Toy drive for veterans

American Vets National and the Combat Vets Association will hold a toy drive serving local veterans and their families in December. The N.H. Veterans and Families Toy Drive will hold drop-offs for new, unwrapped toys on Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop-off locations are Laconia Harley-Davidson, Laconia VFW, Rochester VFW and Alpha’s Barbershop in Goffstown. Toys will then be distributed on Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Laconia Harley-Davidson and Alpha’s Barbershop. The gifts are available for all veterans and families in need. Just bring a valid military identification.
