MAGDALEN COLLEGE in Warner is now The College of St. Mary Magdalen.

The small Catholic college on Kearsarge Mountain Road was founded in 1973. It announced its new name last week, but the change has been in the works for a while and was unveiled for parents weekend, said Tim Van Damm, vice president of college advancement and admissions.

The new name emphasizes the school's Catholic identity and patroness, St. Mary Magdalen, and highlights a renewal that includes recent curriculum changes, Van Damm said.

'We're trying to open it up and send a message that things are going in a new, positive direction,' he said.
