VINCENT HARDING, a friend, associate and sometime speech-writer for Martin Luther King Jr., will be the guest at a dinner Friday in Concord to benefit the American Friends Service Committee.

Harding is the author of Martin Luther King: The Inconvenient Hero, There Is A River: The Black Struggle for Freedom in America and Hope and History: Why We Must Share the Story of the Movement. He wrote the first draft of King's anti-war speech delivered at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967.

The event, which includes dinner, is from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Concord Unitarian Universalist Church, 274 Pleasant St. Suggested donation is $15.
