Yan Gomes had two hits, including a two-run homer, and five pitchers combined on a six-hitter as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Reading Phillies, 7-2, last night on the road.

Gomes's homer in the second inning gave the Fishers a 3-1 lead, and starting pitcher Chad Beck and four relievers made it stand up. Beck (3-0, 2.42) allowed four hits and two runs while striking out five over six innings.

Chipping in offensively were Darin Mastroianni (2-for-5, double), Mike McDade (1-for-3, walk, RBI) and John Tolisano (1-for-4, double, RBI).

The teams meet again today at 11:05 a.m.
