Paul takes a lead

Two new polls show Ron Paul taking the lead in Iowa ahead of the Jan. 3 caucuses.

Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, has the Texas congressman with 23 percent support in the earliest voting state, compared to 20 percent for Mitt Romney, 14 percent for Newt Gingrich, 10 percent for Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann, 4 percent for Jon Huntsman and 2 percent for Gary Johnson. The firm has seen support for Gingrich drop from 27 percent to 22 percent to 14 percent in two weeks.

A poll by the firm Insider Advantage found Paul had 24 percent support in Iowa, compared with 18 percent for Romney, 16 percent for Perry, 13 percent for Gingrich, 10 percent for Bachmann, 4 percent for Huntsman and 3 percent for Santorum.
