'Little debate time for Santorum, Paul'

Last modified: 12/17/2011 12:00:00 AM
Supporters of Rick Santorum and Ron Paul have complained their candidates get ignored during debates. Looks like they have a point.

Smart Politics, which does political analysis at the University of Minnesota, has tallied the amount of time each presidential candidate has gotten in the 10 debates held since September. Mitt Romney tops the list, averaging 13 minutes and 37 second per debate. Herman Cain is at the bottom with an average of seven minutes and seven seconds a debate. But Cain didn't participate in two of the 10 debates.

Santorum, however, did attend all 10 debates and still fared about the same as Cain, getting an average of seven minutes and 22 seconds of time.

After Romney, the candidates with the most time were Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman.
