More homes were sold in New Hampshire last month than in any May since 2005, according to new data released by the New Hampshire Association of Realtors. It was the 18th consecutive month of year-over-year growth.

House sales in Merrimack County grew 12.3 percent last month compared with May 2012, from 122 to 137 single-family units.

“This is as active as many of us have seen the market in years,” said association President Bill Weidacher.

Median home prices also rose statewide, up 5.3 percent from last May to $215,900. Prices in Merrimack County jumped to $200,000 last month from $175,250 in the same month the previous year – a 14.1 percent increase.

And the state’s total sales volume in May – the total dollars exchanged in residential home sales – grew 17 percent from last year, the largest May volume since 2007.
