Body found in burned truck in Weare

Last modified: 1/5/2014 12:38:06 AM
Police and fire officials found a dead body inside a burned pickup truck in Weare yesterday and are releasing few details about the incident.

About 11:30 a.m. a neighbor called Weare’s police and fire departments to report the body, found at 63 Merrill Road, according to a press release from the state fire marshal’s office. When the police and fire departments arrived on the scene, a private property, the fire was out. Weare police Chief John Valleca did not give any additional details, saying the state police are handling the case.

The investigation by the police and fire marshal’s office into the circumstances surrounding the fire is ongoing, and there will be an autopsy tomorrow, the release said. The identity of the victim and cause of death will not be released until after the autopsy and next of kin are notified.

Officials from the fire marshal’s office and state police who responded to the scene could not be reached for comment.
