Trevor van Riemsdyk’s season ended when he broke his ankle in a Jan. 18 loss to Union.

As it turned out, his time with UNH came to an end that night as well.

The Chicago Blackhawks announced yesterday they had reached an agreement with van Riemsdyk signed yesterday, signing the junior defenseman to a two-year deal.

Van Riemsdyk, whose older brother James also played for the Wildcats, was one of the team’s alternate captains this season. He had posted 23 points on four goals and 19 assists in 26 games prior to hurting his ankle.

Van Riemsdyk scored 16 goals and had 59 assists in 102 games for UNH. He was an NCAA First-Team All-American his sophomore season after totaling eight goals and 25 assists in 39 games.
