A former Proctor Academy student accused of sexual assault will face a judge next week in Concord.

Derek Tillotson, 19, of Bow is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Tuesday afternoon in Merrimack County Superior Court.

Tillotson is charged with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, one count of second-degree assault and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old while a student at the prep school’s Andover campus in fall 2015.

Assistant Merrimack County Attorney Kristin Vartanian said this week that both sides were unable to reach an agreement on bail, which necessitated the hearing. Tillotson is currently out of jail.

Tillotson was not arrested and charged by Andover police; rather, a grand jury chose to indict him after hearing the evidence in the state’s case against him.

Vartanian declined to say why it took authorities more than a year from the date of the alleged crime to charge Tillotson.

The bail hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
