Bicyclist struck on Route 106 in Gilmanton

A woman had to be flown by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock after she was struck by a pickup truck Saturday.

Lori Lewis, 45 of Colchester, Conn., was riding north on Route 106 in Gilmanton when she was hit from behind by a 2001 Black Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by Ryan Shurtleff, 33 of Belmont, according to a Gilmanton police department press release.

Witnesses reported that the truck was seen driving “recklessly” and “aggressively” on Route 106 prior to the crash, police said.

Lewis suffered life-threatening injuries from the crash and was airlifted to Dartmouth by helicopter.

Route 106 was closed for eight hours while first responders were on the scene.

Officers from Loudon, Belmont, and New Hampshire State Police assisted with traffic control; officers from Gilmanton, Laconia and Gilford police departments cleared the scene.
