In an effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, Bow Police arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday morning from Washington, who is wanted on charges of second-degree murder.
At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Demiko Fox, a fugitive from Bothell, Washington, was arrested at the Hampton Inn on South Street in Bow in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl under his care.
The arrest was the culmination of a weeks-long investigation led by the Kirkland Police Department in Washington, who had been tracking Fox since the girl’s death.
The child was initially brought to a local hospital in Kirkland in an unresponsive state and succumbed to her injuries after six days.
Ken Miller, Bow police chief, said the operation, which included the U.S. Marshals, the New Hampshire Joint Task Force, the Fugitive Task Force and Bow Police, involved close surveillance of Fox and his vehicle since last Thursday at the hotel in Bow.
Before the arrest on Wednesday, hotel management was informed and guests adjacent to Fox’s room were evacuated as a precaution before the arrest was carried out.
“We had him contained to his room,” said Miller. “There were no safety issues to anyone in the public and he was very cooperative.”
Following his arrest, Fox was booked at the Bow Public Safety Center and later transferred to the Merrimack County Department of Corrections. He is currently being held without bail.
