What was the highlight of your season?

The highlight of the season for me was our quarterfinal game when the boys and I earned a win against Prospect Mountain in the pouring rain. Our uniforms were as dirty as can be, a sign of a great game.

Who was the unsung hero of your team?

The unsung hero of our team was our defender, Dustin Rose. Seeing Dusty gracefully sweep in through the middle of the action and clear the ball always cast a sense of relief over the team. His passes were always on the money.

If you could improve high school soccer in New Hampshire, what would you do?

I would abolish the tradition of resorting to penalty kicks after two overtimes. Instead, I would have the teams do the old MLS style, where the attacker would start at mid-field and go 1-on-1 with the goalie. Similar to penalty kicks, just much more intense.

Do you have any sports superstitions? If so, what are they?

Before each big game, I must have my dad cook me up a full plate of poached eggs. The eggs absolutely make me play better.

Who is the funniest person on your team? What makes them funny?

Benny Madden is an absolute character. His awkward looks and random jokes can make anyone laugh out loud.

If someone was going to make a movie of your season, who would play your coach? Who would play you?

Coach Zipke would be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and I would be played by John Cena.

What are some misconceptions about your sport?

The biggest misconception about soccer is that goals and assists are the only important stats. There is so much more than just passing and shooting that goes into scoring sweaty goals. I couldn’t have scored half as many goals as I did if our defense hadn’t stolen the ball from the opponents and gave it to the midfielders.

What movie can you watch over and over without getting tired of it?

I’m not a huge movie guy, but I am a huge “Game of Thrones” fan. Coach Zipke and I are both crazy fans. The first day of tryouts I showed up and the first thing I said to Zipke was, “Don’t tell me what happens, I haven’t watched it yet.” (Referring to a GOT episode that aired the night before.) Teammate Zach Signor is also a huge fan of the show.

When you are old, what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about?

I think that children will ask me to tell stories about how we survived without the latest technologies. I am guessing in the next 30 years there will be new discoveries such as implanted cell phones, virtual reality drones, and interactive television.

Where do you get your news?

I usually get my news when I am sitting in the senior lounge at school and I hear my buddy say, “Did you guys hear Lil Goof stopped making music,” or something like that.

What movie quotes do you use on a regular basis?

“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” – from “Jaws”

If you built a themed hotel, what would the theme be and what would the rooms look like?

The theme for my hotel would be “Good Eats.” Each room would be filled with some seriously good snacks.

What would be the best thing you could reasonably expect to find in a cave?

I would most reasonably expect to find my assistant coach, Josh Kateff, with his Neanderthal playoff beard, crouching by a fire, clutching his smart phone as he checks the market.

If you could go to school in a foreign country, which country would you pick and why?

I would pick to study in Germany because I speak some German and I love the culture there. Also because it would be easier to afford college.

What’s the opposite of a koala?

You can describe my striker, Paul Molnar, as the opposite of a Koala. He is fast as lightning and he actually has some skills. Koalas are cool animals but not very useful.

What questions would you like to ask a time traveler from 200 years in the future?

I want to ask the time traveler how old Tom Brady was when he finally retired.

If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them / have them do?

I would take them to the Contoocook Covered Bridge restaurant, then drive them to the viewpoint on Blaze Hill, and finally show them around the Hopkinton Fair.

What’s the most boring superhero you can come up with?

The Crooked Carb... This superhero walks in your house, eats all of your carbs and then leaves.

What’s the best thing about being a teen? What’s the worst?

The best thing about being a teenager is that I can participate in so many different activities: soccer, lacrosse, chorus, band and so much more. However, the worst thing is that I have to decide where I want to go to college within the next few months.
