Jessica Nelson: Concord High Female Player of the Season

What was the highlight of your season? Coming in first place for both the skate and classic races at the Division 1 state championship.

Who was the unsung hero of your team? Coach Sam Evans Brown is the team’s unsung hero. He changed his work schedule to coach us and dedicated many hours to improving our technique. He also brought a fun, positive attitude to the team.

What was the biggest surprise of the season? Losing all of our snow in February and getting it back after the competitive season in March.

If you could improve high school Nordic skiing in New Hampshire, what would you do? Develop more accessible challenging trail systems around the state.

Do you have any sports superstitions? If so, what are they? Giving my mom a high five before the race.

What’s your favorite pre-game meal? Rice, veggies and lentils.

If someone was going to make a movie of your season, who would play your coach? Who would play you? Adam Sandler would play Coach and Julia Roberts would play me.

What was the last gift you gave someone? A water bottle to keep hydrated.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently? My toe warmer exploded in my ski boot and burnt a hole in the shoe liner.

Describe the color yellow to someone who is blind. Warm and bright, giving off energy that you can feel throughout your body.

A penguin walks into your school wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he there? The penguin was trying to recruit Nordic skiers to join the ski team and wanted to show what a fun time we have.

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would it be? And what would you serve? Luke Bryan, Mark Cuban, and Kikkan Randall.

If you got a $1 million to start a company, what would you do? I would start a company to create a solution to the opiod crisis.

If you had to go on a talent show, what would you do? Sing country music.

What inspires you? Working hard to accomplish new challenges and seeing good results.
