Drew Stevens: Coe-Brown Female Athlete of the Season

Published: 6/27/2018 7:30:14 PM

What was the biggest challenge you or your team faced this season and how did you overcome it? Our team had two seniors and two juniors. Six sophomores and two freshmen played every game. Our team was young – and we knew that going into the season. Even though it was the biggest challenge, it was the easiest to overcome. Everybody had positive attitudes and cared for one another as sisters. We were a team and that came first. It was so easy to succeed when the biggest thing you had was fun.

Who was the unsung hero of your team? Angelise Moss – I’ve had the pleasure playing with her since middle school and I’m very grateful. She plays almost every position and thrives doing so. She’ll do whatever is needed to make our team succeed, whether that means bunting, hitting game-winning RBIs, or making a diving catch. She truly is a big asset to Coe-Brown softball. You’ll always see a smile on her face.

If you could improve high school softball in New Hampshire, what would you do? It’s a given to wish for better, warmer weather, but I hope the scheduling changes. Some teams play certain teams more than others.

Do you have any sports superstitions? If so, what are they? I don’t believe in superstitions, but basically everyone else on my team does. I just roll with it, but I don’t participate.

What are some of the unwritten rules of your sport? Dive for anything and everything possible. Good sportsmanship above it all. Oh, and make sure your hair looks pretty.

Who on your team, coaches included, reminds you of a character in a TV show or movie? Maggie Sylvester – Donna from That ’70’s Show.

If life were a video game, what would some of the cheat codes be? Fake it ’til you make it. Smile through everything!

What is something that is really popular now, but in five years everyone will look back on and be embarrassed by? Certain clothing styles like Uggs or something.

Where do you get your news? The Concord Monitor or Foster’s Daily Democrat.

What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made? Best – 5 Seconds of Summer concert or Logic ticket. Worst – any horror movie ticket.

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know? There are more stars in the sky than grains of sand on Earth.

What’s invisible but you wish people could see? I wish people could see (or just sense) carbon monoxide so it wouldn’t be a silent threat inside of homes or cars.

If you could go to school in a foreign country, which country would you pick and why? I’ve always wanted to go to Greece or Australia. I love being near the ocean and learning new cultures.

If animals could talk, which would be the rudest? Definitely cats.

What questions would you like to ask a time traveler from 200 years in the future? Should I invest in Bitcoin?

If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them / have them do? Portsmouth, Bow Lake and drive 20 minutes to get to a gas station.

What is the craziest thing one of your teachers has done? Make a movie about his chickens (not a bad thing!)
