ConcordNobody injured in apartment fire

A fire erupted at the apartment complex at 15 Pitman St. in Concord on Sunday, caused by a piece of upholstery on a chair or a couch that caught fire, said Battalion Chief Bill Weinhold.

The building’s fire alarm system alerted the Concord Fire Department about 5:30 a.m., which responded immediately, Weinhold said.

Weinhold said the flames were confined to one unit on the fourth floor of the seven-story apartment building, and extinguished within 20 minutes. The apartment is occupied, but the resident was not there at the time of the fire.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
