After losing to Weare Post 65 in last week’s American Senior Legion game, Concord Post 21 head coach Josh Jarnot felt that his team needed to win three of the club’s last four games to make the state tournament.

Post 21 did exactly that – and earned some redemption on the way.

Concord ace Jonah Wachter threw a perfect game, striking out 12, to lead Post 21 to a 5-0 victory over Weare in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader and Post 21 narrowly won game two, 4-3 in nine innings, to secure a tournament bid.

Weare had defeated Concord, 10-9, in the first match-up between the two teams.

Nate Vandersea had three RBI in game one, while Nater Wachter, Matt Hamilton, Jake Sullivan and Vandersea all had two hits and an RBI each in game two.

Trevor Smith allowed just one earned run and struck out five in five innings in relief in game two.

Concord fell to Merrimack on Monday, 6-2, giving both teams 9-9 records, but Concord had already beaten Merrimack in their two previous outings to claim the final tournament slot in District A via the tiebreaker.

Post 21 will open the Senior Legion State Tournament on Friday with a 10 a.m. game against District B’s top seed Nashua.

All games in this double elimination tournament will be played at Holman Stadium in Nashua – the same site where the Concord High baseball team won the Division I title game this spring.

Weare Post 65 will play District B fourth seed Exeter at 7 p.m. on Friday. Complete tournament schedule is below.
