An 85-year-old woman is improving after suffering critical injuries when she was struck outside Shaw’s supermarket on D’Amante Drive in Concord, police said Wednesday.

The woman, who was hospitalized after the incident, was hit by a red Jeep Compass in the busy supermarket parking lot Aug. 30 about 1:50 p.m.

Police said the driver remained on scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation.

In recent days, police have spoken with at least two additional witnesses who came forward to say what they saw before or after the elderly woman was struck by the vehicle, Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said. He added that police continue to look for any information about what happened prior, during or after the crash.

At this time, no criminal charges have been filed against the driver because of the ongoing investigation.

Police said they hope to conclude that investigation within the next couple of weeks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 226-3100.
