Dear fellow residents of Merrimack County: I am writing asking you to join me in supporting David Croft as the next sheriff of Merrimack County.

I have known David for more than 30 years. In 1990 after serving in the U.S. Army overseas, I was hired by the Boscawen Police Department and worked for then-sergeant, and later chief, Croft. I got to know him as a leader who expected the highest standards of conduct, tenaciously holding his subordinates accountable for their actions. But he also cared for our well-being and supported me through being recalled to active duty for the Gulf War and with balancing a full-time job with a college education.

David has an unwavering commitment to community policing and for over 30 years has supported programs such as D.A.R.E, Special Olympics, and Toys for Tots. David spent many snowy Christmas Eves driving Santa to visit families experiencing tough times. It is this demonstrated ability to balance the necessary enforcement of law with these critical supportive efforts that will bring a community and law enforcement together. As I look around our country, I can’t help but think that others could benefit from the initiatives that David insisted upon as Boscawen chief.

After working for David, I served as a Merrimack County deputy sheriff. I know what it takes to serve our community and I know David to be a capable leader. I cannot imagine a better person for the job. Please join me in voting for David Croft.
